Commander Game Changers Checker

Paste a decklist or a short card list to see which Game Changers it contains, how many, and what that count means for your Commander bracket.

Commander bracket guideline

How many Game Changers can each bracket run?

Brackets 1 and 2 expect zero Game Changers, Bracket 3 allows up to three, and Brackets 4 and 5 have no limit. These counts come from the Commander bracket guidelines, not a ban, so the cards stay legal everywhere. The checker above counts the Game Changers in your actual list.

How the bracket count works

Brackets 1 and 2: no Game Changers

Exhibition and Core decks expect zero Game Changers. If the checker finds any, the deck is reading above Bracket 2 on this signal alone.

Bracket 3: up to 3 Game Changers

Upgraded decks can run up to 3 Game Changers. A count of 1 to 3 is consistent with Bracket 3, though the rest of the shell still matters.

Brackets 4 and 5: unlimited

Optimized and cEDH decks have no Game Changer cap. Above 3, the count points toward Brackets 4 and 5. Run the full bracket calculator for the complete result, and the deck audit for a card-by-card review.

Questions players usually ask

How many Game Changers can a Bracket 3 deck run?

Up to 3. Brackets 1 and 2 expect none, Bracket 3 allows up to 3, and Brackets 4 and 5 have no limit. The checker reports the count so you can compare it against that guideline.

Are Game Changers banned in Commander?

No. Game Changers are not banned. They are a flagged list of high-impact cards used to place a deck in a bracket. You can play them at any time, and they are simply limited in the lower brackets.

Does one Game Changer push my deck to cEDH?

No. A single Game Changer is consistent with Bracket 3, not cEDH. Bracket 5 is about competitive intent and a tuned shell, not the presence of one strong card. Use the bracket calculator for the full picture.

Where does the Game Changers list come from?

The checker uses the same Game Changers list that powers Deckcipher's bracket calculator and deck audit, so the detection is consistent across every tool on the site.

Reference notes

  • This tool only counts Game Changers. It is not a full bracket result. Win speed, repeated extra turns, mass land denial, and overall intent still matter, so use the bracket calculator for a final read.
  • Detection is name based against the shared Game Changers list. Unrecognized lines, heavy misspellings, or cards outside the list are not counted.
  • Card prices and images come from live Scryfall data when available. Confirm final availability and checkout price before buying.
  • Rules version 2026-02 (February 2026 Commander update). Last reviewed 2026-08-06.
  • The official bracket rules set no limit on tutors. Deckcipher shows tutor density as a consistency signal, not a bracket violation.
